Moore County Sheriff's investigators arrested a Vass man on Nov. 14 for a sex offense involving a 14-year-old.

John Lindsey Heard, 58, of 267 McKeithan Road was charged with statutory sex offense, sex offense parental role, felony child abuse sex act, indecent liberties with child (two counts), contributing to juvenile (two counts) and displaying material harmful to a minor. The alleged incident took place Nov. 12, according to a press release.

Sanford Woman Arrested

A Sanford woman, arrested Nov. 13 by Moore County Sheriff's detectives, faces charges relating to a credit card theft.

Jessica Pilson Lawton, 37, of Bamboo Lane, was charged with felony identity theft, felony financial card theft, misdemeanor financial card fraud and misdemeanor larceny.

A 78-year-old Southern Pines man reported on Sept. 9 that $60 and a credit card had been stolen. He also reported that the credit card had been used several times, according to a press release.

Lawton was released on an unsecured $25,000 bond.
