Crop Walk Raises Funds to Fight Hunger

The annual Crop Walk, sponsored by the Sandhills Fellowship of Churches, was held Sunday, Oct. 12, with a total of 209 walkers.
Churches participating included Bethesda Presbyterian; Brownson Presbyterian; Cameron Presbyterian; Emmanuel Episcopal; First Baptist, Southern Pines; Pinehurst United Methodist; Southern Pines United Methodist; Trinity A.M.E. Zion and White Hill Presbyterian.
The Union Pines National Honor Society, with its 99 walkers, and the Pinecrest High School Key Club also participated.
A group from the award-winning Union Pines Marching Vikings also provided musical entertainment during registration.
Over $14,000 was raised to fight hunger both locally and globally.
