Children's imaginations will soon drift toward Christmas dreams and wishes. The 2008 Toys for Tots campaign, whose belief is "every child deserves a little Christmas," will begin in Moore County Saturday, Nov. 15.

Local Marines and their helpers will be collecting and distributing toys to numerous local agencies, churches and community programs. Ron Base, of Pinehurst, a member of the Sandhills Detachment No. 1001 of the Marine Corps League, is the local coordinator. Last year, over 8,000 toys were distributed to almost 4,000 children in Moore County.

"We need your help to reach every child of families who are unemployed, underemployed or homeless," says Base.

Collection boxes will be set up throughout the county.

"You can also donate your time and effort to increase the number of toys collected," says Base.

"Or donate service support by allowing collection boxes at your church or business."

Tax-deductible donations can be made by writing a check to the "Marine Toys for Tots Foundation" and mailing it to Ron Base, 55 Oak Hills Road, Pinehurst NC 28374.

"Financial donations are extremely helpful in giving the campaign the means to purchase educational toys for children with special needs," Base says. "The Toys for Tots Foundation, your Marine Corps League and the children of Moore County will be most grateful for your continuing generosity."
