The Sandhills CC Flyers basketball team will try to end a two-game losing streak Thursday when they return to action against Guilford JV.
After winning their opener against Southside Community College, the Flyers dropped their next two.
Carolina Prep handed the Flyers a 125-120 defeat Saturday afternoon. Monday, Rockingham Community College defeated the Flyers 102-65.
Earlier this season SCC athletic director and head basketball coach Aaron Denton said he wouldn't measure success by wins and losses.
"We want to do the best we can," Denton said. "Our goal is to be the best we can, and if we play to our best we feel that we can be competitive with anyone we play."
That attitude is pervasive among the players.
Germann Bostic, who led the Flyers with 31 points in a 99-91 win in the season opener against Southside Community College, said he hates to lose, but said he can cope with the losses if he feels he and his team have given their best effort.
"I hate losing," he said. "I love to win but if we lose a game and we were outplayed while playing our best then that won't bother me."
Sandhills, which revived athletics after more than two decades without intercollegiate athletics, won its opening game against Southside Community College, 99-91.
Playing an up-tempo style, the Flyers have averaged 93 points in their first three games.
Five of the 16 team members are from Pinecrest High School.
The Flyers will play home games at The O'Neal School.
The first home game of the season is scheduled for 3 p.m. Nov. 9.
The Flyers will also host Campbell Club at 2 p.m., Nov. 15.
