Mrs. Mary Jane "Petey" Shoemaker, age 87, became an angel in Heaven on Thursday, October 30, 2008.

Petey was born on April 5, 1921, in Perry, Ohio. Life was always an adventure for her. She lived in Emmaus, Penn., for 40 years. She was a school teacher, bowler, civic leader, tennis player, Eastern Star member and a volunteer for several organizations.

After retiring to Pinehurst with her husband, Ken, she became involved in College Club, The Women's Exchange, played bridge with many different groups, and was very active in the Pinehurst Tennis Club.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Ken; daughter, Sandra Willis, and husband, Paul; a son, Chuck Shoemaker, and wife, Susan. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kevin Serafin, and wife, Dominique, and Alyssa Solinski and husband, Russ, two great grandchildren, Sophia and Thomas Solinski.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at The Village Chapel in Pinehurst and at the Moravian Church in Emmaus, Pa.
