An Aberdeen man was found shot to death late Monday night in Addor, according to the Moore County Sheriff's office.
Donald Gray Sands Jr., 43, was in a car on Gillespie Street, Sheriff Lane Carter said.
The Moore County Sheriff's Office received a report of a vehicle accident on Gillespie Street at 10:31 p.m., according Carter. When deputies arrived, they discovered the victim in the car, Carter said. He was the driver of the vehicle.
"The victim received a gunshot wound and is deceased," said Lt. Bill Mackey.
Mackey was one of several investigators on scene Tuesday morning.
Gillespie Road is a winding, sandy, unpaved road populated with several mobile homes. Addor is a small, mostly black community just south of Pinebluff.
Investigators were gathered along the road near a white mobile home. A screen door rested on its side, flush against the home. A broken screen hung from a window, and two chairs, a small table, and a rusty wheelbarrow were in the yard.
Late Tuesday, morning Mackey said the time of the shooting had not been determined.
He said investigators were still gathering information and declined comment other than to say, "Our investigation is underway."
Individuals at several mobile homes near the scene declined to be interviewed, saying they knew nothing about the incident.
No arrests had been made by press time.
