The North Moore Mustangs moved into the middle of the pack in the Yadkin Valley Conference baseball standings with a wild 16-14 win at Thomasville Friday. The victory improved the Mustangs' YVC record to 2-3 on the season.

It was a welcome offensive explosion, as well as a victory, for the struggling Mustangs coming off a week's worth of tournament action. Tuesday, the Mustangs dropped a 7-2 contest to Randleman in the Copperheads Classic at Asheboro.

Last week the Mustangs fared slightly better in the South Stanly Easter Tournament at Norwood. North Moore suffered a tough 11-10 loss to West Montgomery Friday night in a game that could have put them into the championship game. Saturday, tournament host South Stanly beat the Mustangs 5-1 in the tourney's consolation game

North Moore returns to conference action in a 5 p.m. game with South Davidson at Denton on Friday. The Mustangs hope to pull to .500 in the conference and avenge an 8-4 home loss to the Wildcats earlier in the season.

The Mustangs' red-hot junior varsity baseball team clobbered conference foe Thomasville 16-4 in five innings at Robbins Friday. It capped an outstanding week of action that also saw the Mustangs sweep a pair of games at Albemarle on Tuesday by identical scores of 6-5.

North Moore is now 9-2 on the season and 4-1 in YVC play. The Mustangs are now riding a four-game winning streak.
