Author Daniel Wallace will read from his new novel, "Mr. Sebastian and the Negro Magician," Sunday, March 30, at 3 p.m. at Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities in Southern Pines.
This event is part of the Sam Ragan Lecture Series.

Pancake Breakfast
On Saturday, March 29, the Vass Lions Club is sponsoring an "all you can eat" pancake breakfast at the Vass-Lakeview School.
Tickets are $6 and are available at the door and at various popular stores in Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Vass and Aberdeen.
Breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. Take-out orders will be available. In addition to food, there will be crafts, baked goods and Lions brooms for sale.
All proceeds will go to the Sight First II Campaign, a program designed to prevent or reverse blindness.

Yard Sale
The Pinehurst Lions Club will hold its annual yard sale Saturday, March 29, on Community Road from 8 a.m. to noon.
The proceeds will benefit the many Lions projects especially helping the blind, visually and hearing impaired.
"A large variety of items will be available for sale including hand and yard tools, antique bathtub, furniture, plus a lot of good junk," says a spokesman.
Clean-Up Day
The annual Southern Pines Clean-Up Day will be held Saturday, March 29, beginning at the Downtown Park tennis courts at 9 a.m.
If it rains, the pickup will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30.

Recital
Pianist Katharine Boyes will play at Penick Village, Saturday, March 29, at 3 p.m. in the auditorium.
Boyes is currently assistant professor and coordinator of the music program at St. Augustine's College in Raleigh.
