The Moore County Fire Marshal has issued a burning ban in conjunction with the statewide prohibition issued by the N.C. Forest Service

The ban, which went into effect at noon Thursday, prohibits all outdoor burning in Moore County. It is in effect until further notice.

All burning permits have been canceled and any outdoor burning should be extinguished. Anyone in violation of the burning ban could be fined.

Hazardous fire conditions create the potential for explosive growth of fire in the event that a wildfire develops. Residents should be especially careful with any potential ignition source such as cigarettes or sparks from lawn equipment.

Anyone needing more information can contact the fire marshal's office at 947-6317.
