The North Carolina Bluebird Society is holding its annual meeting at Weymouth Center for the Arts and the Humanities on Saturday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The morning session will include "Bluebird Memories," a Power Point presentation by President Helen S. Munro highlighting her experience with bluebirds and the people who have helped the bluebirds by putting up nest boxes. Susan Campbell, naturalist at Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve, will speak about hummingbirds in North Carolina and their unique activities and abilities.
The afternoon activities will be found at Weymouth Woods and will include a presentation in the auditorium by Susan Miller, biologist with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, on the red-cockaded woodpecker. Susan Campbell will do a demonstration with a misting net and banding songbirds.
Traditionally, the NCBS annual meeting has between 20 and 30 door prizes as well as several silent auction items. Bluebird items will be available from the NCBS store. Total cost for this meeting is $15 which includes the program, a "goodie bag" and lunch by Talberts' Catering.
