Ladies Special Events

Ladies Special Events will meet Wednesday, April 2, at noon. There will be complimentary wine and juice served in the main lobby at the Pinehurst Member's Club for members and their guests.

Following will be entertainment by the Sandhills Community College drama and music students.

Joy Karcher, drama director, and Frances Wilson, choir director, are bringing their talented students to perform "A Tribute to the Movies." Jennifer Thomas will accompany the singers and will play a piano medley of movie tunes. There will be scenes and songs from some of our great American films, beginning with the earlier ones and moving into the 20th century.

Karcher is a talented and accomplished actress as well as an acting instructor. She has starred in many plays from college and with Sandhills Theatre Company, and has appeared in films, has radio and television experience, and has done commercials and interviews on local stations in North Carolina. Her directing experience is extensive.

Karcher's education include eight years of choir, band, and dance, a bachelor's degree in communication and theater from Georgetown College in Kentucky, and a master's degree in communication and theater, Miami University, Ohio.

Francis Wilson, director of the Sandhills Community College Choir, holds a bachelor's degree in music education from Lenoir-Rhyne College, and a master's degree in music and in junior college teaching from Appalachian State University. In addition to directing the choir, she teaches voice, music appreciation, and music theory.

Pointing Breeds

The Sandhills Pointing Breeds Club will hold its monthly club meeting Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. on the club grounds. The club's meeting house is located at 3280 Jackson Springs Road, Jackson Springs.

The SPBC is open to anyone interested in the pointing dog breeds. Dog ownership is not required. The Club usually meets the first Tuesday of every month from September through May.
