Marie Boone Snell, 72, of Aberdeen, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Deep Creek Baptist Church, Pinehurst, with the Rev. Oscar Logwood officiating.

A private burial will be in the Boone family cemetery, Carthage.

Mrs. Snell was a retired caregiver and a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed church activities, helping people and arranging flowers.

"Marie was a loving, devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother and a caring, compassionate sister," says a family member.

Mrs. Snell was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Effie Caviness Boone; two sons, Morris A. Snell Jr. and Douglas E. Snell; a daughter-in-law, Barbara H. Snell; and a brother, Fred J. Boone.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Morris A. Snell Sr., of Aberdeen; a son, Terry L. Snell, of Port Orange, Fla.; three granddaughters, Misty Myatt, Alexis Snell and Nichole Snell, of Boise, Idaho; a daughter-in-law, Roberta Snell, also of Boise; two sisters, Shirley J. Boone, of Borne, Texas, and Betty B. Snead and her husband, Marshall, of Stuarts Draft, Va.; and three brothers, Billy L. Boone and his wife, Lula, of Carthage, Glenn E. Boone, of Clemmons, and Daniel L. Boone, of Carthage.

Boles Funeral Home, Southern Pines, is assisting the family.
