SANDHILLS BEST BETS: Pair Parachutes For Animals At Fundraiser

Animal Advocates of Moore Co. Inc. is holding a fundraiser at the Raeford Airport at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 29, to honor homeless dogs and cats.

Maureen Horansky parachutes for the dogs, and Barb Shepherd parachutes for the cats.

"Please join us to cheer them on and place your donation in the canister to help this no-kill facility raise money," says Horansky.

Rummage Sale

The Haven will host a rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday, from June 14 through Aug. 9, at the Pinehurst Woman's Exchange.

Concert Band

The Moore County Concert Band will perform its final concert of the 2007/2008 season at 5 p.m. Friday, July 4, in the Carolina Hotel's Grand Ballroom.

Nature Preserve

The Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve will host "Frogs and Toads," at 3 p.m. Sunday, at the center located on Fort Bragg Road, Southern Pines.

Over 20 species of these amphibians can be seen or heard in the Sandhills.

Temple Teens

The Temple Teens will hold their first performance of the season on July 4, at 5:30 p.m., taking part in the Fourth of July festivities at Depot Park in downtown Sanford.

The group of 12 local teens will perform a high-energy song and dance routine, with a variety of patriotic songs to commemorate the holiday.

The Temple Teens are available to perform at local clubs, organizations and special events.
