Jane Hammett and Don Bright, owners of Shadow Hill Kennels and Farm, will host a weeklong camp for children and their favorite dogs in July.
Hammett is a longtime professional dog handler and a trainer and breeder of top-ranked Shetland sheepdogs. She grew up in a kennel atmosphere, going to dog shows and working summers in other kennels around the country.
The weeklong camp offers beginning and advanced classes in agility, obedience, handling skills for the show ring, grooming clinics, dog bathing, Frisbee, camping, swimming and hiking.
A new feature this year demonstrates a relatively new sport called "Rally," which shows children how to get a Canine Good Citizenship award for their dogs from the American Kennel Club.
"We are here to help them succeed and commit to a goal for the summer and fall," says Hammett. "It's a great way to continue learning, sharing information, and making friends."
The farm is located on 134 acres in the Jackson Springs area.
