William Evander Phillips, 79, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, at Cameron Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
Mr. Phillips was a native of Moore County, a son of the late Hubert Lee and Alethea Moore Phillips. He was a member of the Sanford Masonic Lodge and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Jeannie Brown Phillips and Jan Phillips; and a brother, Hubert Lee Phillips Jr.
Mr. Phillips is survived by a daughter, Sherri Phillips, of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, Ryan Phillips and his wife, Yancy, and Marc Phillips, all of Sanford; four sisters, Dorothy Gladden, of Sanford, Helen Comer and her husband, Harold, of La Grange, Ga., Mary Lou Jeffers and her husband, Curtis, and Betty Wicker, all of Sanford; two brothers, Herman R. Phillips and his wife, Maggie, of Carthage, and Bruce Phillips and his wife, Peggy, of Cameron; and one sister-in-law, Imogene Phillips, of Harrison, Ark.
Memorials may be sent to the Funeral Expense Fund, c/o Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home, 509 Carthage St., Sanford, NC 27330.
