Any month is a great month to adopt an animal from the Moore County Animal Center or any of the wonderful local rescue groups that help animals.
June has the special distinction of being Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. Spring and early summer are "kitten season" in the animal world, and the Animal Center and the various groups have a very large selection of kittens and older cats that are looking for permanent homes.
Watching kittens play with fancy cat toys or even a piece of string is better than watching television.
Older cats are great company while one is sitting and reading a book. They will even encourage you to take a nap during the heat of a summer day. Petting an animal helps lower blood pressure.
If you provide a loving and caring home for an adopted animal, you will be rewarded with undying love, loyalty and a best friend for life.
The Animal Center and the rescue groups in Moore County require that your animal friends be spayed and/or neutered. This will help with the animal over-population problem. If you have room in your heart and your home, adopt a cat or a kitten. You will be so glad you did.
