Moore County sheriff's deputies arrested two Aberdeen men Friday on possession of stolen property charges.

Casper Tart, 56, a Cameron farmer, reported to the Sheriff's Office that some parts that had been stolen from his bulldozer were being sold in Moore County. He reported to the Hoke County Sheriff's Office that the parts were stolen while it was parked in Hoke County and sold to Sandhills Recycling in Moore County.

Deputies arrested Jonathan Tyler Overton, 18, and William Joshua Reavis, 21, and charged them with felony possession of stolen property and obtain property by false pretenses. Both men have Aberdeen addresses but live in Hoke County.

They were released with $5,000 unsecured bonds. Their first court date is June 23.

Sex Offenses: The Moore County Sheriff's Office received a report May 23 of an attempted sex offense with a 16-year-old juvenile.

The incident occurred outside Robbins.

Investigators arrested Jerry Lee Garner, 40, of Robbins, and charged him with attempted second-degree sex offense, sex offense, sexual battery and contributing to delinquency of juvenile.

He was jailed with a $20,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for June 2.

Larceny: On April 13, Lynn Bailey, of Carthage, reported that someone had removed a 2008 Honda dirt bike, a 2005 Kawasaki dirt bike and a 2006 Honda four-wheeler.

The theft occurred between April 10 and April 13.

On May 22, investigators charged Steven Patrick Varga, 17, of Carthage, with one count of felony larceny and one count of felony possession of stolen goods.

Varga was jailed with a $10,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for June 2.

Break-in: On May 12, the Sheriff's Office received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny to a business in the Robbins area.

Burgess Body Shop and Towing reported that someone had entered the business at 6911 N.C. 705 and removed five checks.

On May 22, investigators charged Jessie Hampton English, 33, of Robbins, with one count of felony breaking and entering, one count of misdemeanor larceny and four counts of felony uttering forged instrument.

He was jailed under a $25,000 bond. His first court hearing is scheduled June 2.

Arson: Deputies have charged a West End man with setting two fires within an assisted living facility.

On May 23, Seven Lakes Assisted Living reported that someone had started a fire in a resident's closet. Firefighters contained the blaze. It appeared to have been intentionally set, investigators said.

A second, smaller fire was reported to have been started on the same date in another room at the facility.

Deputies charged Wayne Flack, 47, of West End, with two counts of first-degree arson. Flack was jailed with a $100,000 bond. His first court hearing is scheduled for June 2.

Stolen Car: Michael Thomas, 49, of Aberdeen, reported May 13 his 1970 Datsun stolen from property he owns in the Jackson Hamlet community.

On May 23, detectives charged John David McRae Jr., 40, of Jackson Hamlet, with felony larceny of motor vehicle and possession of stolen property. He was released with a $2,500 unsecured bond. His first court date is set for June 2.

Break-ins: On May 8, the Sheriff's Office received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny in Seven Lakes.

Preston Reid Stackhouse reported that someone had broken into one of his vehicles, stolen the batteries, and taken gas from the tanks. He also reported that the two registration plates had been removed from the vehicles.

On May 9, an employee of the Behavioral Healthcare of the Carolinas reported that someone had broken into the business and stolen a laptop computer and accessories.

On May 17, William Adams reported that someone had broken into a building used for storage and had left behind three laptop computers and a portable CD player. Deputies found that the items inside the business belonged to Behavioral Healthcare of the Carolinas and that there had been an additional breaking and entering and the computers and CD player had been stolen.

Deputies recovered the stolen laptop May 9. The investigation led officers to determine that 50 hanging flower baskets had been stolen from the West End Food Lion, and four hanging baskets were stolen from the Log Cabin Country Store.

Some of the hanging baskets were recovered, along with the computer.

Deputies discovered that someone had broken into a rear storage room of Pine Moore Construction in West End.

Deputies charged William Benton Hodges, 38, of West End, on May 20 with six counts of felony breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny, two counts of felony possession of stolen goods, four counts of misdemeanor larceny and four counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.

He was jailed with a $40,000 bond. His first court date is June 2.
