The 13th Annual Carriage Classic in the Pines sponsored by the Moore County Driving Club will be held June 7-8, a month later than previous years, at the historic Pinehurst Harness Track.

The show begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Mile Track with class competitions being judged in single, pair, and multiple pony and horse divisions, as well as special classes such as Lady to Drive and Gentleman to Drive.

Immediately following the ring classes, competitors will venture onto the cross country course.

The course simulates what a horse and carriage may need to negotiate on a typical pleasure drive, including crossing a small stream and going over a bridge.

Sunday is the Pleasure Marathon day, often considered the highlight of the weekend. Spectators won't want to miss the display of competitors showcasing their finest turnouts as they parade through the Village of Pinehurst and its surroundings.

Competitors will begin departing the Pinehurst Harness Track at 8:45 a.m. and enter into downtown Pinehurst by 9 a.m.
