Gridiron-Diamond Golf Tourney

The Gridiron Diamond golf tournament fundraiser for the Pinecrest High School baseball and football programs is July 28 at Foxfire Resort and Golf - West Course.

Golfers may sign up individually or as a team for tee times for 8 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. tee times. The format of the event is a Texas scramble. Prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin. Lunch provided.

Basketball and Cheerleading

The Upward Basketball and Cheerleading registration and evaluation will be held at Southern Middle School beginning Monday. Evaluations and registrations will be done on the following schedule: Age 4 through second grade, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday; grades 3 through 8, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday; age 4 through grade 8 from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 2. Pinecrest Girls Golf Meeting

An organizational meeting for those interested in playing on the Pinecrest High School girls golf team will be held at 10 a.m. July 28 in room 4204 at the high school For more information: 673-1480.

New Sports Programs

Family Support Network of the Sandhills and the Moore County Parks and Recreation Department are working together to create a sports program for families with children with disabilities. They are looking for families to join. Any person is eligible, ages 4-adult. Volunteer as a member of the planning committee. 2nd Annual Moore County Junior Amateur Championship

The First Tee-Tin Whistles Junior Tour will be conducting the 2nd Annual Moore County Junior Amateur Championship at Pinewild CC August 19-20. Fore Kids Sake golf tourney

Communities in Schools is hosting its second annual golf tournament, Fore Kids Sake on Aug. 26 at Pinehurst No. 8. Tournament is a best ball format with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Jimmy V Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed for the 15th annual Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic slated for Aug. 10 at Pinehurst Resort. Positions needing the most help are marshals, transportation and standard bearers.
