Meeting Planned for Auditions in CBC's 'Nutcracker'

Carolina Performing Arts Center will hold an informational meeting for boys and girls interested in the possibility of auditioning for the Carolina Ballet Company's "Nutcracker," which is performed in Raleigh. Parts could include truffles, mice, soldiers, and party girls and boys.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 12, at CPAC, 670 S.W. Broad Street, Southern Pines. Those from ages 6 to 9 are asked to come between 4 and 5 p.m., and those from ages 9 to 13 are to come from 5 to 6 p.m.

Those coming are asked to wear dance clothes and bring ballet shoes.

A parent is expected to attend. The cost for the informational meeting is $5, with $20 for the pre-audition class.

"CPAC would like to see more dancers from the Sandhills have the opportunity to participate," says a spokesman.

"Please attend a planning meeting and class for youngsters from the Sandhills. This can assist with understanding the requirements for the audition process."

Plans will also be made for carpooling for rehearsal and performance days.

A second meeting and class will be held Monday, Aug. 18, at 4 p.m. and at 5 p.m.

Information regarding the "Nutcracker" auditions will be announced during this meeting.
