The Woodlake Women sponsored "Be a Book Buddy" at Vass-Lakeview School for the first time this year.

All 95 fifth-graders were given a copy of Dr. Seuss' "Oh, The Places You'll Go!" upon their advancement to middle school.

Each book, adorned with a special bookplate designed by Kathy Barringer, a member of the club, was presented in a handmade book bag.

"The community donated funds to help buy the books," says Jeanne Hunkele, project chairman. "It was so successful that we have decided to make it an annual event."
