First Casualty Insurance Group Inc. (FCIG) in Yadkin Park in Southern Pines has recently purchased a new 2007 Ford van from Bill Smith Ford and donated it to Moore Humane Society (MHS).
Moore Humane Society had been looking for a van to replace its older one, and FCIG was happy to step up to the plate.
"We are very happy to be able to donate this much-needed van to the Moore Humane Society and know that it will be put to good use," said FCIG Public Relations Director Kim Kelly-Smith. "Too often, many nonprofit groups that depend and operate solely on donations -- material or monetary -- are overlooked, and we want to demonstrate through our efforts and commitment to Moore Humane Society, that we appreciate the work this group does for our community and the many animals they rescue, care for and make available for adoption to loving homes.
"We encourage our community leaders, businesses and individuals to join us in helping raise awareness and to recognize the hard work this group performs on a daily basis. Join us in their efforts for saving Moore animals."
MHS Shelter Manager Michelle Queja said, "Having a van that is in good working condition is a very important part of our shelter operations and we are thankful for this kind donation."
The van will be used for transporting animals to the veterinarian clinics for spay/neuter and other medical procedures. Animals are also transported to off-site adoption events and to various speaking engagements around the community.
The Moore Humane Society is a private, nonprofit organization incorporated in 1966. It practices "no-kill" philosophies. Its mission is to foster compassion, responsibility, and respect for all animals through education, legislative activism, and progressive spay/neuter and adoption programs.
