S.P. Recreation Dept. Offers Summer Camps

Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department offers several summer camps leading up to the beginning of the new school year.

Clay Camp

Mold, shape, design, and paint using stoneware clay. Make coil baskets, pinch pots, animals, people, and more. Learn sculptural and painting techniques to capture essential details. Classes are scheduled for July 28-Aug. 1, and Aug. 18-22, and are held at the historic Train Depot (downtown Southern Pines) from 10 a.m. to noon.

Nature Camp

Wild World of Nature Camp is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon July 28-31, at Weymouth Woods.

"Enjoy an educational adventure discovering what the natural world does behind the scenes," says Sue Gillis. Pre-registration is required.

Cheerleading Camp

Jr. Cheerleading Camp will be held at the Train House, Monday through Friday, July 28-Aug. 1. Youth ages 3-5 years will enjoy camp from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by a camp for youth ages 5-8 years from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
