Tennis Camp Honors Participants

The Moore County Parks and Recreation department recently sponsored the John Frye Tennis Prep School. The two-week training event was held at Union Pines High School and New Century Middle School.
Camp instruction focused on individual drills and skills as well as competition. It was open to intermediate and advanced skill tennis players in junior high and high school.
John Frye served as camp director. He was assisted by Joseph Lynch and Jordan Gray. Lynch is an Appalachian State University graduate. He was a member of the Mountaineer tennis team. Gray, a former three-time all-conference player for Union Pines, is currently enrolled at N.C. State where he is studying architecture.
First-week competition winners were:
Volleys: Jordan Dew and Virginia Priest. Approach: Nolan Evans and Brittany Jones. Overheads: Evans and Priest. Groudstrokes: Dew and Jones. Serve: Josh Coxe and Jones. Volley tiebreakers: Dew and Laura Cameron. Singles: Dew and Cameron. Touch skills: Evans and Cameron. Outstanding camper: Dew.
Second-week competition winners were: Volleys: Jordan Dew, Nolan Evans, Evan Davies, Madison Kramer and Shannon Simpson. Approach: Will Fondrie, Jay Stalls, Jay O'Connor and Lydia Stalls. Overheads: O'Connor, Fondrie, Evans, Jordan Smith, Laura Cameron and Lydia Stalls. Groundstrokes: Fondrie, Jay Stalls, Dew, Cameron, Melissa Tally and Lydia Stalls. Serve: Jon Fondrie, Jay Stalls, Will Fondrie, Evans and O'Connor. Volley tiebreakers: Will Fondrie, Evans, Dew, Kramer, Smith and Tally. Singles: Evans, Kyle Gatti, O'Connor, Lydia Stalls, Kramer, Walden and Mercedes Braccamonte. Touch skills: Jay Stalls, Evans, Dew, Johnathan Dangerfied, Cameron, Lydia Stalls, Smith and Tally.
Thirty-four players attended the eight nights and 24 hours of training.
