A Seven Lakes man had to be hospitalized Tuesday after a car ran into the back of his motorcycle while he was stopped in traffic on U.S. 1.

The driver who caused the accident fled the scene, said Detective Lt. Rodney Hardy of the Southern Pines police. Police are looking for Quincy Markey Green, 27, of Carthage, to charge him with felony hit and run.

Joseph Adams III, 20, was waiting in traffic on his motorcycle just in front of Ragazzi's Italian Restaurant when Green failed to stop his vehicle and struck the motorcycle, Hardy said, forcing it to strike the car in front of it, driven by Gloria Chiello, 84, of Southern Pines.

Green fled the scene on foot. Paramedics transported Adams to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.
