John Chappell will depict the brilliant storyteller and writer Mark Twain in this one-man show, aptly titled "Mark Twain! On Stage," at the Temple Theatre March 6-16.
A native of Moore County, John Chappell has entertained audiences across the country for nearly 40 years with his portrayal of this illustrious man.
His live re-creation captures Mark Twain's stinging commentaries on the human race, politics, slavery, religion and life with the wit and wisdom that made Twain a legend.
"The show will take audiences from moments of laughter to poignant reflection, while being captivated by a perfect illusion of the man himself," says a spokesman.
"Mark Twain! On Stage," sponsored by Bankingport Inc. for the benefit of the Bread Basket, will be presented March 6-16.
Opening night is Friday, March 7, and the audience is invited to meet the performers and designers after the show while enjoying a complimentary champagne toast.
Tickets are $20 for adults; $16 for groups, Thursday evening performances, active military personnel and Lee County Educators; and $10 for students and children.
Tickets may be purchased at the box office, located at 120 Carthage Street in downtown Sanford.
Box office hours are Monday through Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. and one hour prior to show times.
Tickets may also be purchased by calling (919) 774-4155, and online ticketing is available by visiting the Web site at www.templeshows.com.
