Gola Mae Gaines Hunter, 62, of Sanford, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Barry Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Friday, Feb. 29), at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, Sanford.

Mrs. Hunter was born Sept. 21, 1945, in Chatham County, a daughter of the late Carl Roe Gaines and Laura Stinson Gaines.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alan Hunter; a brother, Victor Gaines; and a sister, Josephine Brewer.

Mrs. Hunter is survived by two sons, Harold Edward Crawford Jr. and Frederick Miles Crawford; six brothers, David Gaines, all of Sanford, Hubert Gaines, of Carthage, Carl Gaines Jr., of Goldston, Homer Gaines, of Atlanta, George Gaines, of Hampstead, and Eddie Gaines, of Siler City; six sisters, Cora Tillman and Joyce Wicker, both of Sanford, Kate Wilkie and Myrtle Wilkie, both of Goldston, Ruth Carty, of Raleigh, and Iola Phillips, of Lexington; and nine grandchildren.
