Just in case you haven't been paying attention, it's time to clean up the golf clubs and head to the driving range to work out some of the kinks in your golf swing.

It's tournament time in the Sandhills.

That means it's time for the eighth annual Kelly Cup Golf Championship, a tournament that benefit the Sandhills Children's Center. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, so time is fleeting.

Tom Stewart and Peter Zimmermann are chairing this year's tournament, which is being played over Pinehurst Resort's renowned No. 8, the Tom Fazio-designed Centennial Course.

The tournament, which will have a 12:30 shotgun start, is open to men and women, and will use a format of best ball of four with full handicap. The entry fee is $200 per player or $800 per team.

Sponsorships are available at the $300, $500 and $1,000 levels. Entry fees include a dinner donated by Outback Steakhouse. Prizes are being donated by Old Sport & Gallery of Pinehurst.

The Kelly Cup is named in honor of the William R. Kelly family in recognition of their ongoing commitment to the mission of the Sandhills Children's Center.

Proceeds from The Kelly Cup, as well as other great fundraising events (including Festival of Trees and the upcoming Wine Tasting), help in supporting the necessary programs the Children's Center provides for preschoolers, 12 months out of the year.

A private, nonprofit developmental day school for children ages birth to 5, with and without special needs, Sandhills Children's Center provides educational, health care and therapeutic services in an inclusive setting, in addition to a nurturing and loving environment to more than 110 children. In addition, the Center also provides outreach services to more than150 children, birth through 2 years old, in a five-county area.
