The Moore County Chapter of the Sentinels of Freedom thanked the community with a free concert of the 82nd Airborne Division Band Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Sandhills Community College.
Sentinels of Freedom Co-chair Martha Gentry welcomed the crowd and thanked them for their generous support.
Retired Maj. Gen. Sid Shachnow spoke briefly on the Sentinels of Freedom program and began the concert with a "Posting of the Colors" by the U.S. Army Special Forces Command (Airborne).
Commander CW2 Russell Houser and his band entertained the attendees with a variety of patriotic marches, military medleys and emotionally stirring favorites. Their music was enthusiastically received and required an encore from the band.
