Vike Girls Stay Undefeated in Tennis

The Union Pines girls' tennis team just keeps on trucking. Thursday, the Vikings swept Harnett Central 9-0 in a Cape Fear Valley Conference match in Cameron.
The victory improved the Vikes' league record to 4-0. Union Pines has won 33 of its 37 individual singles and doubles matches on the season and is the eighth-ranked 3-A team in the North Carolina Tennis Coaches Association's weekly poll.
With two wins Thursday, Viking senior Anna Maness improved to 54-9 in her scholastic tennis career, and moved to 48th on Union Pines' all-time wins list.
The Vikings are next in action, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, when they tangle with Triton in a conference tennis match in Erwin.
