Brad Johnson, headmaster of Sandhills Classical Christian School, announced the addition of Kelley Adams as preschool director. Adams will lead the Little Friends of SCCS program, which already includes successful 3- and 4-year-old classes. With her addition, the school is introducing a new pre-kindergarten class as well as a two-day 3-year-old class.
"Kelley brings a wealth of experience in early education teaching and curriculum development to our school," said Johnson. "We are thrilled to gain her direction of the Little Friends of SCCS."
Adams resides in Pinehurst with her husband, Chandler, and three children.
"I am very excited to join the Little Friends of SCCS program," said Adams. "The school has been growing responsibly and meeting the needs of the church and community with goals and values closely aligned with my own. I cannot think of a better educational environment for children, and I look forward to participating in the expansion of the programs and offerings."
The goal of Little Friends is to nurture, teach and love children through hands-on learning, structured group and individual activities and creative playtime. They seek to develop six main areas including school readiness and self-esteem, language and listening skills, social skills, math skills, large and fine motor skills and spiritual growth.
The SCCS mission is to provide excellent classical education founded upon a biblical worldview. All subjects are taught as part of an integrated whole, with the Scriptures at the center of the lesson. Currently, the school has a 10 to 1 student teacher ratio, and classes test an average of two years above grade level on standard achievement tests. Founded in 1999, the SCCS has continued its expansion in response to the needs of the local community.
