Drew Kittleson is making a match of it against Danny Lee in the championship clash of the U.S. Amateur being played on Pinehurst No. 2 today.

Lee, who breezed through the first five rounds of match play, entered today's final as the heavy favorite, carrying the title of the world's top-ranked amateur. Kittleson, meanwhile, just kept playing steady golf, grinding out win after win to reach today's 36-hole finals.

After the opening nine holes of play, Kittleson is all-square against Lee.

Kittleson let it be known he was here to play on the opening hole. He carded a birdie, while Lee was taking a par to go 1-up.

Kittleson stretched his lead to 2-up on the 472-yard, par-4 fifth when his par topped Lee's bogey.

After both parred the par-3 sixth, Lee cut the margin into Kittleson's margin with a birdie on seventh hole, making it 1-up, Kittleson.

Both players parred the eighth hole.

But Lee evened things up as they made the turn for the 10th when he parred the par-3 ninth, while Kittleson had to settle for bogey.
