"If you or your plants are being attacked by critters that bite or sting, you can learn how to fight back with help from Taylor Williams," says a spokesman.

Williams is the Moore County Extension agent, and he will conduct a clinic on insect and pest management, from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27 at the Agriculture building, 707 Pinehurst Ave., Carthage.

Participants can learn how to control fire ants and deal with hornets, yellowjackets or stinging caterpillars.

"Bring samples of plants that show signs of insect damage," says the spokesman.

"If possible, bring a live insect specimen for identification."

Williams will recommend an action plan to address specific problems, so you and your plants can fully enjoy summer in the Sandhills, adds the spokesman.
