"Appetite for Art," the dine-a-round fundraiser for the Arts Council of Moore County, is in full swing.

"We are pleased with the enthusiastic response to this program," says Connie Petrillo, chairman of the "Appetite for Art" Committee. "The parties held in the first part of the year were a huge success, and I want to thank all the hosts of these parties. But there are still more parties to come."

n Get a sneak peek at the early fall arrivals at H. Edwards & Co in Pinehurst Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 5 p.m. Models will showcase the new collection, which will include sportswear, dresses, evening wear, accessories, handmade bags, hand-knit sweaters, and handmade jewelry. Wine, cheese, and hor d'oeurves will be served. Hosted by H. Edwards & Co., the cost per person is $20 and the party is limited to 50 people.

n From 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, The Fresh Market of Southern Pines will close its doors for a special wine gala. Participants can feast on the wine-tasting stations with heavy hors d'oeuvres and a food-only table serving boneless prime rib and shrimp cocktail. Tasting notes will be available for the evening's sampled wines, and participants may take advantage of the discount coupons for future visits and special wine discounts. The cost is $25 per person and tickets are available at the Arts Council's offices in Campbell House.

n Friends of the Arts Council will host a party called "Come to the Cabaret at Weymouth" at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10. Participants will enjoy dinner, an open bar, and some special entertainment by Baxter Clement. The cost is $50 per person, and space is limited.

n For a special party for the entire family, try the "Family Fun on the Farm" party at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Winds Way Farm in Aberdeen. At $35 per family, the party will provide pumpkin carving, games, a hay ride, hot cider, hot chocolate, and autumn-inspired pies as a special treat. Kids and adults may don Halloween costumes if they choose.

n The final party of the year is called "Girls Night Out" and will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5. Hosted by Pat Clark, Patti Malloy and Kappa Muldoon, this party will be a fun-filled evening with a casual dinner, drinks, games, and lots of laughter -- just for the girls. The cost is $25 per lady, and only a few spaces are still available.

Proceeds from "Appetite for Art" benefit the Arts Council of Moore County. In addition to operating the Campbell House Galleries, the Arts Council offers an extensive series of arts programs for children; presents the Classical Concert Series at the Sunrise Theater; brings world-class jazz performers in for Heart 'n Soul of Jazz at Pinehurst Resort; awards grants to Moore County schools and organizations for arts-related projects; provides scholarships to middle and high school students enrolled in arts-related programs; and offers ARTours, first-class trips to special art venues throughout the world.
