Whispering Pines Thrift Shop Announces Allocations

The Board of the Whispering Pines Thrift Shop announces the spring allocations total of $16,000. A grand total of $710,164 has been raised and distributed to Moore County charities and organizations in the last 27 years.

"We hope we have contributed to the welfare and happiness of all our local friends and neighbors and all residents of Moore County," says a spokesman.

The spring recipients are: American Red Cross; Bethany House Inc.; Companion Animal Clinic (CAC of Sandhills); Family Promise; FirstHealth Hospice; FirstHealth Response (Lifeline); Food Bank of N.C. (Sandhills); Friend to Friend; MANNA; Meals on Wheels; Moore Free Care Clinic; Moore Buddies; Moore County Department of Aging; Moore Humane Society; Moore

County Literacy Council; Moore County Social Services Foster Childrens' Special Account; Life Care Pregnancy Support Services Inc.; Sandhills Coalition for Human Care;

Arc of Moore County; Whispering Pines Fire Department; Whispering Pines Police Department; and the Whispering Pines Rescue Squad.

"Besides monetary donations we also give clothing and household items for special needs and causes," says the spokesman.

The shop is closed for the month of August for a little freshening-up and will reopen for shoppers at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3. Then the regular schedule will resume.

The shop is located on N.C. 22, 1.2 miles past the airport. Receiving hours are from 9 a.m. to noon, and shopping hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
