Harnett County sheriff's deputies arrested a Cameron man Wednesday wanted for a string of felonies in several counties including Moore.
Moore County sheriff's deputies had been searching for Eric Wayne Callahan in the Mount Pleasant area with help from the State Highway Patrol, the Harnett County Sheriff's Office and the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
Callahan, 27, had eluded officers several times by jumping out of vehicles and escaping on foot.
He's wanted on several charges in Harnett, Lee and Moore counties. The charges include robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle and fleeing to elude arrest.
Tuesday a deputy spotted him driving along a road near the Mount Pleasant community of Riverbend. He is believed to have bailed out of his car and escaped into the woods. The Sheriff's Office believes that he also abandoned a car on Monday to elude police and had again done so recently to elude Harnett County deputies.
Police used dogs and a helicopter to search the area.
A previous article incorrectly spelled Callahan's name as Callihan. Also, he was incorrectly said to be wanted in Chatham County rather than Lee County.
