Patriots Shine in Wake Jamboree

The Pinecrest Patriots acquitted themselves nicely in the East Wake Football Jamboree Tuesday morning. Pinecrest scrimmaged Sanders, East Wake and Greensboro Rose high schools Tuesday at the East Wake Football Jamboree.

Highlights for the Patriots included consecutive scoring plays on the first possession against East Wake. On the first, Damien Decatur broke off left tackle and dashed 40 yards to the end zone. On the next play quarterback Ben Williams sent a high-arcing pass into the arms of Jarrin Wooten for another 40-yard score.

Raphael Alston, a sophomore running back, scored on a 25-yard run against Rose High School.

The Patriot defense showed itself well against some strong opposition.

The Patriots played 20 snaps -- 10 offense and 10 defense -- against each opponent. Each play began on the opponent's 40-yard line.

Pinecrest will play in the Cumberland County Jamboree Thursday. The will play the host Pine Forest High School at 6 p.m.

All players on both the junior varsity and varsity squads played during the jamboree Tuesday.
