Hole-In-One: Bill Stevens, a member of Pinewild, scored a hole-in-one using his 5-iron on the 143-yard eighth hole of the Holly Course. His playing partners were Stainton Smith, Carol Smith and Alyce Kietzman. They were playing in a couples group of eight that plays once each month.
Paula Montgomery, a member of Pinewild, aced the 126-yard 12th hole of Pinehurst No. 4 using her 4-iron. She is a member of the Pinewild team that plays in the Interclub II Matches. This was her first hole-in-one, and she was playing with Karen Wirt, Patti O'Day and Sis Liston.
Sonja White scored her second hole-in-one while playing on the West Course at Foxfire in the Pinetop Tournament. She used her 7-wood to cover the 107 yards to the 13th green. Her playing partners were Jan Flesca, Nancy Donley and Jodi Barth.
Interclub: The scores for each club for the Interclub II tournament played Aug. 4 on Pinehurst No. 4 are as follows: Pinehurst, 41.5; Country Club of Whispering Pines, 37.5; Mid South Club, 34.5; National Golf Club, 30.5; Pinehurst No. 7, 37; and Pinewild Country Club, 35.
The Interclub I tournament was also played Aug. 4 on Pinehurst. The results were: Country Club of North Carolina, 44, vs. Country Club of Whispering Pines, 28; Pinehurst, 35, vs. Southern Pines, 37; Pinewild, 41, vs. Foxfire, 31.
Year-to-date totals: Southern Pines, 145.5; Pinewild, 142; Country Club North Carolina, 137.5; Country Club of Whispering Pines, 136; Pinehurst, 132,5; and Foxfire, 110.
Pinehurst: Donna Tanner won the Women's Golf Association two-day championship played July 25 and Aug. 1 on Nos. 4 and No. 2, with a total of 156 players. Maggie Sanger carded a par round of 72 on Course No. 2.

The Chippers played Aug. 7 on No. 6, and the game of the day was even holes, with 50 percent of each player's handicap used for scoring. Margie Lavoie was first with 20. Marge Frost, Pat Tomasetti and Pat Smith tied at 21.
Beacon Ridge: The Men's Golf Association held its summer shoot-out Aug. 2, with the four flight winners playing for the championship. The winners were George Norman and Jim Owen. Second through fourth place were Ron Dunning and Howard Moreau, Gerry Buelow and Bob Simpson, and Terry Card and Doug Leslie.
Flight runners-up were:
Flight 1 -- Ed Schroeder and John Shaughnessey.
Flight 2 -- Mike Schurr and Rich Zegar.
Flight 3 -- Jim Mark and Dick Dole.

The Women's Golf Association played Aug. 5 on the Magnolia Course in an ABCD format using two best balls of the foursome. Marie Gilbertson, Sue Zande and Nancy Butler, 131; and Diana Harper, Pat King, Suzanne Wright and Marilyn Mahan, 132.
National: The Men's Day results for Aug. 2 are as follows:
Stableford -- Jim Arnold, plus 5.
Individual -- Jim Arnold, 70; Mike Fiske, 71.
Skins -- Bob Thome, five; Art Williams and Clair Smith, four; Mike Fiske, three; Tom Boals Jr. and Jim Arnold, two.
The ladies played a contest called "Inside the 100 Yard" on Aug. 6, and the winners were Dot Kennihan, 59; Becky Deaton, 62; and Cathy Gough and Karen Finegold, 63.
In the Twilight Golf tournament played Aug. 5, the winners were:
Gross: Doughertys and Granvilles, 32; Butchers and Whites, 33.
Low putts: Lorenzes and Rays, 11; Boalses and Ayers' 13.
Whispering Woods: The Men's Golf Association played July 30 in a Texas scramble using two best balls of the foursome. The team of Fred Miller, Al Gaeta, Gaylord Maines and Werner Klingener scored 105. The team of Bill Kirk, Smoke Wood, Bill Bartlett and Charlie DiLaura scored 107.
On Aug. 1, the game was one net ball plus one gross ball on par-5 holes, one net all on par-3s and two net balls on par4s. The winners were Steve Luckhaus, Claude Bandy, Tony Rodriques and Al Eisold at 111.
On Aug. 4, the game was net skins. The winners were Tony Rodriquez, three; and Fred Miller, one. On Aug. 6, the game was team Stableford, using two best balls of the foursome. The team of Fred Miller, Ken Pomeroy, Tony Rodriquez and Charlie DiLaura carded a 94. Steve Luchaus, Al Gaeta, Hank Smallacombe and a blind draw scored 93.
The Women's Golf Association played a nine-hole low net and putts tournament, with Margret Endrigat carding a net score of 30, followed by Fanny Maines with 38. Jean Hinkle won low putts with 10. and Mary Ella Miller had 12.
Seven Lakes: The nine-hole Lakers played Aug. 6 in a Cordial Cup/low putts contest. Dodie Lynn won the Cordial Cup with a net 36, as well as low putts with 13.
Flight winners were:
Flight 1 -- Mary Ann Allen, 38; Mary Ellen Lorion, 37; and Ellen Smith, 40.
Flight 2 -- Jo Bennett, 41 and Judy Streit, 42.
Southern Pines: In the Par Seekers Member's Cup, low net tournament, Bonnie Quesenberry had 69, and Pat Bryan had 73 in the flight one. Susie Ray scored 75, and Elaine Workman had 80.
Knollwood: The Sandblasters played a captain's choice, with the team of Ron Flock, Paul Cottam, Frank Griffin, and Phil Colwell scoring 33. Art Gula, Glen Kendall, Tom Delehanty and Joe Reilly had 35. Steve Zachary, John Mannion, Mac Andrews and Clark Russell had 37.
The Rainmakers played Aug. 4, in a low gross, low net and low putts contest. Joanne Rabdau won low gross with 42. Jo Green won low net with 30, and Barbara MacNamee won low putts with 14. Dot Burtis chipped in on No. 1. Peggy Jones birdied No. 9, and Barbara Floore carded a birdie on No. 3.
Midland: The Men's Golf Association played a Nassau tournament using three best balls of the threesome Aug. 6. Art Gula, Harvey Koonce and Joel Rabdau were the overall winners with 127. Art Gula won low gross with 76.
In a nine-hole Skins Game, Ed Painter won on holes 1 and 5, James Burrill on holes 2 and 4, Howard Fordree on holes 3 and 8, and Bill Crenson on hole 9.
Birdies were recorded by Ed Painter and Joel Rabdau on 1. Harvey Koonce on 2, Tom Delehaunty on 6, and Art Gula on 16.
Whispering Pines: On Aug. 4, the Ninettes played a game of "Predict Your Score" on the front nine of the West Course. Mary Jakucyk was the best forecaster, with her score of 36. She also chipped in on hole 3. Daryl Pierce was second, and Dixie Oliver was third.
The Men's Golf Association played a "Beat The Pro" contest. Pro Rodney Russell shot an even-par 71, and six members had a better net score than his gross score. They were Art Reetz, 63; Junior Jones, 65; Jim Mullin, 66; Dick Mills, 69; Dick Strine, 70; and Chris Reitler, 70.
Pinetop: The Pinetop tournament was played Aug. 6 on the West Course at Foxfire. The flight winners were:
