John Edwards, a former presidential candidate who grew up in Robbins, admitted in an interview with ABC News that he had an affair with a campaign worker.

He denied being the father of her child. Edwards admitted that he had the affair with Rielle Hunter, but that it ended before the child was conceived, he said in the Friday interview with ABC news for an appearance on the network's "Nightline" program.

Edwards said his wife and other family members became aware of the affair in 2006.
