Rise Above Pettiness

The July 4 letter by John Rowerdink contained inaccuracies and false assumptions regarding Sen. Barack Obama. The constant harangue from the right is simply a regurgitation of the venom spewed by President Bush in 2004 and 2006, which resulted in the Republicans losing their majority in the Congress.

We cannot afford a "third term" of President Bush via Sen. McCain. We deserve better!

Higher gasoline prices, increased taxes and the size of the federal government becoming larger than ever are factors that already exist, thanks to the Bush-McCain coalition. We do not need to experience a continuation of the failed policies of the last eight years. It is time for a change.

The prejudice being cast toward Sen. Obama's race by some is insulting and embarrassing to our intellect. It seems that Sen. Obama is a real challenge to some because of their narrow views and a low level of tolerance for those unlike themselves.

How jealous are the Republicans of Sen. Obama for who he is and what he will bring? Let's rise above this petty nonsense and judge each candidate, based upon his character and platform.
