Cape Fear Holds Auditions

Cape Fear Regional Theatre announces that auditions for the musical, "Barnum," will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the theater, located at 1209 Hay Street, Fayetteville.

The lead role will feature Broadway's Dirk Lumbard.

A variety of roles are available for ages 16 and up.

"We are looking for performers with special circus-type skills (juggling, baton twirling, tumbling) as well as actors, dancers, and singers," says a spokesman.

Auditionees must prepare a 16-bar song selection. Piano accompaniment or a CD player will be available.

"If you have a special skill such as dance, gymnastics, baton twirling, circus skills (i.e. juggling) be prepared to demonstrate these," says the spokesman. "Come prepared to dance and wear appropriate footwear."

This show traces the career of America's greatest showman from 1835 to the year he joined James A. Bailey to form "The Greatest Show On Earth," with songs from Cy Coleman like "There's a Sucker Born Every Minute," "The Colors of My Life," "I Like Your Style" and "Love Makes Such Fools of Us All."

Vocal and dance rehearsals for "Barnum" are tentatively scheduled for Aug. 26. Performances are currently scheduled to run Sept. 19Oct. 5.
