North Moore finished the regular season schedule with a big 8-1 win over Thomasville at Robbins last week.
The Mustangs were scheduled to compete in the Yadkin Valley Conference individual tournament Monday, but rain forced the event to be postponed until Tuesday.
That's quite a turnaround for a team that had the 2007 season canceled because of a lack of players. Head coach Angie Shepard was beaming back in March when she said, "This year we have a team. And we'll have returning players, so there will be a team next year, too.
The resurgent program has taken its lumps at times this season. But the Mustangs, behind the senior leadership of Hilton Bullock and Keith Childers, have also claimed important victories over both South Davidson and Thomasville. In short, they are not a joke and cannot be taken for granted in the first day of YVC Tournament action.
Bullock and Childers were both honored for their efforts during the Senior Night ceremony following North Moore's Tuesday night baseball game.
North Moore swept the singles and took two out of three doubles matches against Thomasville to send the Mustangs into the tournament on a high note.
