Ralph Gacomo, 96, of Pinehurst, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pinehurst, with James M. Labosky as celebrant.

A Rite of Committal will be held in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Southern Pines.

Mr. Gacomo was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a bellhop at The Carolina, Pinehurst, for 69 years.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Gacomo and his wife, Teresa, of Chelmsford, Mass.; a sister, Jeannette Gacomo, of Pinehurst; and two grandchildren, Kevin Gacomo Jr. and Elizabeth LeDuc.
