"The ninth annual "Run for the Roses" Wine Tasting, benefiting the children of Sandhills Children's Center, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst.

"This is made possible by the incredible donation of wines by Sam Zahran & Sons, Inc., of Fayetteville," says a spokesman. "As in previous years, they will offer wines from various wineries and sparkling selections. On the balcony of the Fair Barn, there will be a special tasting area of approximately one dozen higher-end wines that promise to please the most sophisticated of palates."

To complement the wines, an assortment of local favorite restaurants have offered to prepare their favorite culinary delights, including Ashten's, Bonefish Grill, Chef Warren's, Coachlight Cafe & Wine Bar, Elliott's on Linden, The JFR Barn, Little River Country Club, Pinehurst Resort, Rhett's, Sweet Fi's Cakes, and The Fresh Market.

In addition, the Wine Cellar & Tasting Room will be at the Fair Barn the entire evening to take orders for wines anyone might choose to purchase. Again, they have offered to donate a percentage of the proceeds from any purchases made that evening only, back to Sandhills Children's Center.

Throughout the history of "Run for the Roses," many committed individuals and businesses have contributed significantly to its success as sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities range from the $300 level of a Belmont Stakes Sponsor to the $2,500 level of a Triple Crown Sponsor. All sponsors will receive recognition per sponsorship level on signage at the event. In addition, the sponsorships include premium admission tickets to the Wine Tasting, Friday, May 2, and pre-selected wine packages by Sam Zaharan & Sons.

For more information about sponsorships and to purchase general admission tickets for $50 or premium admission tickets for $75, contact Sandhills Children's Center at 692-3323 or visit www.sandhillschildrenscenter.org

"Celebrate the 134th Kentucky Derby at the Fair Barn in the Village of Pinehurst amidst amazing wines, great food, and unbeatable company, all on behalf of some very special children," says the spokesman.
