Cain Leads Patriot Girls to Win Over 71st

Latanya Cain scored four or more goals for the sixth time this season, leading the Pinecrest girls' soccer team to a 10-0 victory at Seventy-First Monday night.
The Patriots, 10-1-1 overall, completed the first half of their Mid-Southeastern Conference schedule with a 7-0 mark. This evening, they travel to Douglas Byrd.
With a number of the varsity players off on a school trip to Italy, the Patriot squad that faced the Falcons included members of the junior varsity team. The Patriots scored their 10th goal with about five minutes remaining, ending the match under the league's 10-goal mercy rule.
The goal scorers were Cain (four), Bailey Pages (two), Holly Germain (two), Amber Fernandez and Ashlyn Douglas. Credited with assists were Pages (two), Caitlin McArdle, Cain, Ashley Sweeting, Alex Zoellner and Brittany Ritter. Sarah Dejak was in the goal for the team's seventh shutout of the season.
O'Neal Tennis Gets 1st Win
The O'Neal School boys' tennis team recorded its first win of the season, defeating Flora MacDonald Academy 9-0 on Monday at O'Neal.
The Falcons swept the six singles and the three doubles matches to improve their record to 1-2 for the season (1-1 in the Triad Athletic Conference standings). O'Neal is scheduled to play Carolina Friends in Durham today.

Falcons Top Quakers
The O'Neal School girls' soccer team defeated Carolina Friends School Monday at O'Neal by a score of 1-0 in a game that had been postponed last week because of rain.
The lone goal of the game was scored by Margaret Cross on a direct free kick from outside the penalty area with 30 minutes remaining in the second half of the contest with the Quakers.
Cristina Morcom played an outstanding game in goal, recording seven saves on her way to posting her fourth shutout of the season.
The Falcons' record improved to 4-1-3 with the win.
The Falcons are currently in third place in the Triad Athletic Conference with a conference record of 3-1-2. O'Neal is scheduled to play Salem Academy in Winston-Salem on Friday, and will be at home against the conference leaders, Calvary Baptist Day School, next Tuesday.
