This is the first letter I've written to any newspaper, much less to endorse a candidate for political office, but I feel this upcoming election is critical for Moore County.

John F. Kennedy once said, "Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future." It is time for a change in the leadership of Moore County. We need a candidate with vision, experience, and proven leadership. That is Nick Picerno.

I've known Nick only a short time, but I am sure he is genuinely concerned with the future of our county. Nick is not a politician by definition but a man who desperately wants to help ensure the prosperity and integrity of our county and its people, both now and for future generations.

Nick built a very successful business here from the ground up under his mantra of humble leadership, integrity, dedication, and service before self. He watched the business flourish. He accomplished this while garnering the respect of those he led and those in the community -- not an easy feat.

He will accept the responsibility of serving our county with no less dedication. Often the politicians we elect seek office because of the urge to surpass all others, whatever the cost. Rare is the leader with the urge to serve others, at whatever the cost. Please support Nick and yourself on May 6.
