The O'Neal School boys' tennis team traveled to Raleigh on Tuesday to play Ravenscroft School in the first match of the season for the Falcons. Ravenscroft, a 3-A powerhouse in tennis, won all nine matches, and improved its season record to 9-0.

The Falcons returned home Friday to take on Triad Athletic Conference foe Westchester Country Day School on Friday and lost to the Wildcats, 5-4, in a match that was not decided until all the doubles matches were finished.

Westchester won the first three singles matches, but O'Neal won at the four, five and six positions to tie the match at 3-all after the singles were completed.

The Wildcats won the third doubles match, and O'Neal won the second doubles match, before the first doubles match was finished, so the team match then hinged on the winner of the first doubles.

Westchester prevailed in a close match at the first doubles by a score of 8-6.

The Falcons are now 0-2 on the season, and 0-1 in conference play. O'Neal wass scheduled to play Carolina Friends at home on Tuesday.
