Doris Ann Koch Turner, 86, of Mystic, Conn., formerly of Old Saybrook, Conn., and Southern Pines, died Thursday, March 29, 2007.
A funeral service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday at Mystic Funeral Home, and will proceed to a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Mystic. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Turner was born in Newark, N.J., on March 17, 1921, the daughter of Frank and Ida Mentz Koch. She married Samuel Moore Turner on Oct. 10, 1953.
She spent her last years at Stoneridge, Conn., participating in many social activities. She especially enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Old Saybrook Women's Club and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
"Her fondest memories were of summers spent in Spring Lake on the Jersey shore, and of traveling with her husband during their retirement," says a family member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Moore Turner; a sister, Ida Mary O'Neil; and a brother, Frank Koch.
Mrs. Turner is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Mangano, and her husband, Michael, of Westerly, R.I.; grandchildren, Jeff and Katie Mangano; a niece, Meg Jamieson, of Florida and New Jersey; and a nephew, Frank Koch of Georgia.
