Community Interest

Portrait Fund Drive, for Aberdeen Rescure Squad, will be conducted for the next several weeks. Families in the service area may be contacted via mail or phone to make a donation. Our State Symbols at Weymouth Woods - Most folks know that the northern cardinal is our state bird, but did you know that we have many other state symbols, including a state insect and state reptile? Join a ranger to learn about these and other symbols, as well as our state's toast, motto and nicknames. The program will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 1, in the auditorium at Weymouth Woods.

Eggcellent Eggventure, free Easter egg hunt, Monday, April 2, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Hillcrest Park, Carthage. For kids as old as 6. Badge making, face painting, tattoos, necklace making, and refreshments. The egg hunt will begin at 5:45 p.m., with 4,000 eggs filled with toys and candy. The Easter Bunny will be there, along with two bicycles and three Easter baskets to give away.

Prancing Horse, a therapeutic riding program for children with physical or emotional challenges, needs volunteers to serve as horseback riding assistants.No experience required, volunteers will be trained. Info: 947-6395.

Master Lee Holbrook, Tai-Chi Instructor, will be at Fox Hollow Assisted Living and Memory Care every other Thursday at 1 p.m. in the activity room.
