Doretha H. Strickland, 77, of Fayetteville, died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday (today), March 14, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville with the Rev. Al Bean, the Rev. Reggie Edwards, and the Rev. Brooks Grimes Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Strickland was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a loyal Christian woman who believed in reading her Bible daily.

"She never met a person she did not leave as a friend," says a family member.

Mrs. Strickland is survived by her husband, James A. Strickland, of the home; two sons, Ricky Strickland and wife, Rose, of Fayetteville, and Don Strickland and wife, Wanda, of Vass; a brother, Raymond Hair of Cape Carteret; two sisters, Sybil McCormick of Eastover, and Madeline Grimes of Fayetteville; and six grandchildren, Anthony, David, Jonathan, Emily, Rachel, and Joshua Strickland.

Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville is assisting the family.
